Watch this video tutorial for a step-by-step guide to installing Procreate brushes

Method 1: Direct Installation from Files App

The most common way to install Procreate brushes is directly through the Files app:

  1. Download the brush file (.brush or .brushset) to your Files app
  2. Open Procreate on your iPad
  3. Tap the Brushes icon (the brush symbol) in the top right
  4. Tap the "+" icon to open the brush menu
  5. Select "Import" at the bottom of the menu
  6. Navigate to where you saved the brush file
  7. Tap the brush file to import it

This method works for both individual brushes (.brush) and brush sets (.brushset). Once imported, you'll find your new brush in the "Imported" brush folder.

Method 2: Direct Download with Safari

If you're downloading brushes directly from a website:

  1. Tap the download link for the brush file in Safari
  2. When prompted, select "Open in Procreate"
  3. Procreate will automatically launch and import the brush

This is the fastest method and works well when downloading directly from brush creator websites or Art and Design TV's product pages.

Method 3: AirDrop from Another Device

If your brush files are on another Apple device:

  1. Select the brush file on your other device
  2. Use AirDrop to send it to your iPad
  3. When received, tap "Open in Procreate"
  4. The brush will automatically import

This is useful when you've purchased brushes on your computer or have brush files stored on another device.

Organizing Your Brush Library

As your brush collection grows, organization becomes important:

  1. Create custom brush sets by tapping the "+" icon in the brush library
  2. Name your sets based on style, project, or brush type
  3. Drag and drop brushes between sets
  4. Rearrange brushes within a set by long-pressing and dragging
  5. Delete unwanted brushes by swiping left on them and tapping "Delete"

A well-organized brush library will save you time and make your workflow more efficient.

Troubleshooting Common Import Issues

If you're having trouble importing brushes:

  • Make sure you're running the latest version of Procreate
  • Check that the brush file is valid (.brush or .brushset extension)
  • Try restarting Procreate and your iPad
  • Ensure you have enough storage space on your device
  • If the brush was created in a newer version of Procreate, update your app

For our Art and Design TV brushes, we provide installation support if you encounter any issues.

Happy creating!
